Choosing in favor of modular paintings will allow you to create a special style of interior. A series of several elements merges into one composition - it looks vivid and dynamic. Choosing to make modular paintings with your own hands, you can express your individuality. The master class will help you quickly master the basics, and you will become the owner of the original element of decor.
What is a modular picture
A modular picture is a few canvases that are combined into one composition.
Options for the location of elements are many:
- symmetric arrangement in the horizontal plane;
- displacement and asymmetry horizontally and vertically;
- mixed vertically-horizontal;
The most popular variations with symmetric and asymmetric displacements - they literally change the space of the room. It's amazing how with the help of this technique in the design you can achieve a visual increase in space. This is very important for the arrangement of the interior of a small room.
Depending on how many parts the general picture consists of, they are distinguished:
- diptych - 2 canvases;
- triptych - 3 canvases;
- polyptych - more than three canvases.
There are no strict rules for interior decoration with a modular picture. In addition, with the current printing capabilities, you do not need to be an artist to make such a composition with your own hands. Is this not a challenge for real creative nature?
How to make yourself
The material that can be taken as an image can be chosen depending on the availability of finances and wishes.
Options for paintings with the image:
- fabric with a bright clear print, for example, the image of flowers;
- photo or picture printed on the printer;
- favorite version of the wallpaper with photos.
From the selected basis depends on the choice of the frame. A master class for the production of such paintings will help you create a masterpiece of the interior.
Master class from fabric
- fabric with a plot or ornament, printed image or wallpaper with a photo drawing;
- base: wooden slats 50x20 and plywood, fiberboard or foam;
- PVA glue;
- pencil, chalk or soap;
- furniture stapler
Step 1. Preparing the foundation
Depending on the budget you are counting on, you can buy a ready-made canvas base or make it yourself. The first option is suitable for those who are inspired to paint painting. For the first experience it is better to make a triptych - three elements, under which we prepare three bases. From slats and pieces of plywood, you can quickly build the basis for a modular picture. To do this, we join the wooden slats into the frame, cutting off the ends at a 45-degree angle. They can be stapled or glued together.
For strength at the corners of the frame from the seamy side we attach triangles made of plywood (with legs of 10 cm each). As a lining, you can pull a neutral-colored fabric on the frame, fixing it with a stapler.
It is much easier to use as a base pieces of fiberboard, you only need to process the base around the edges. If you chose the option of wallpaper or a printed image, then you can choose a very simple and easy basis - foam.
Step 2. Fasten the canvas to the base
Before you cut the segments, plan well and mark the cuts using the principle “measure seven times and cut once”. The size of the fabric should take into account the folds on the reverse side. We fasten the fabric on the subframe with a furniture stapler, securing the brackets from the inside of the work. It is important to evenly stretch the canvas, without forming folds. First fasten the long side, and then the short side.
Printed versions can be glued even on thin foam ceiling tiles with white glue.
Many instead of wallpaper with a photographic image, order the printing of the image you like in numerous print services. You do not need to be a master for this; however, when printing, you need to think over to make several separate elements with an overlapping pattern. Thus, you keep the integrity of the overall picture.
Step 3. Place the pictures
At this stage, you need to come up with a place where you hang your composition, as well as a way to position the canvases relative to each other. For fixing, you can choose the usual furniture hinge small format. If the pictures are mounted on the subframes, then they can be fixed on screws that are screwed into the dowels and slightly protrude from the wall.
Extremely interesting are the locations where one canvases are shifted in an interesting way. A unique element looks like it is deliberately shifted in “flight” as if from a whiff of wind.
The master class will give you an understanding of the main points of creating a modular picture. You can safely experiment with the materials of the canvas and the base, choosing what you have available. For the first samples, even pieces of drywall or foam will fit, on which pictures from the printer or rectangles from wallpaper are pasted. When you practice on simple materials, you can make more complex compositions for interior decoration.
